Bluegill in the Slaw

Bluegill in the Slaw reside in Brown County, IN and is comprised of two duos, The Hammer and The Hatchet, and Silver Sparrow. Both duos give their original songs the "full band" treatment with Jayme Hood on guitar, John Bowyer on guitar/mandolin, Dave Sisson on guitar, and Sam Herrin (formerly of the Whipstitch Sallies) on upright bass/mandolin. The four-piece features rotating lead vocals and rich harmonies over hard driving, rock-tinged roots originals that pull from a wide range of influences - from Neil Young to the Drive-By Truckers and Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings. The band grew out of Brown County's bluegrass jam scene, and were immediately drawn to each other's unique take on the genre. After jamming together for years, they decided to become an official band after a day of fishing and picking, and frying up Bluegill.
